FLORAL DESIGNS FOR CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS DESIGN 23

This arrangement was the second one of four which I made for a demonstration to Bromsgrove & District Flower Arranging Society in December 2003.

This design has been made on a wide bamboo dish, with a plastic container and floral foam inside for the mechanics. Around the edge of the dish, I have placed a gold wicker wreath. The design is in a red and gold colour scheme. I began with two red and gold inverted cones for the height. The foliage used is folded Aspidistra elatior variegata, orange-tinted Mahonia, Hedera colchica "Sulphur Heart", Hedera helix erecta, and some red-dyed Grevillea. Flowers used are red standard Carnations, red Roses, red-dyed Sterlingia, and green "Kermit" Chrysanthemums. Some of the taller roses have been wound round with gold bullion wire, across the flower and down the stem, and have had a collar of Ivy leaves added. Finally, some red artificial grapes and some gold artificial Eucalyptus leaves were added for a more "Christmassy" feel!
