I have used a tall galvanised square container for this design, with floral foam for the mechanics. The foam is held in a square flower pot which fits inside the neck of the container. The drainage holes have been filled with hot-melt glue so that the flower pot holds water. Silver-sprayed Corylus avellana 'Contorta' stems form the height. Flowers used are white 'Casablanca' Lilies, white Lisianthus and white standard Carnations. Foliage used is Picea pungens glauca on the right, some unidentified "blue" conifer at the front, and Fatsia japonica 'Variegata' on the left. Two silver-sprayed wicker "lanterns" have been used for interest and texture, and two blue square candles have been added. A bow of silver ribbon has been added on the left to give some sparkle. The base is a silver-sprayed square raffia place-mat, to repeat the square shape of the container. On the base are two silver tea-light holders, with tea-lights inside (see detail below). Surrounding these are some blue-green pebbles to bring the colour down to the base of the arrangement. |
