POPULUS ALBA 'RICHARDII'
Common Name: White Poplar
Family: Salicaceae

This is an unusual variety of the White Poplar, which has lovely soft yellow leaves which are a bright white underneath. The stems are also covered in a white coating. It is a deciduous tree which can grow very tall, but I keep mine pruned back every couple of years so that it remains a shrub. A bonus of this plant is that its leaves preserve in glycerine and turn black on top, remaining white underneath, which gives a lovely effect.
