PHLOMIS FRUTICOSA
Common Name: Jerusalem Sage
Family: Labiatae/Lamiacae

This is an evergreen shrub with silver-green woolly leaves. It produces whorls of woolly yellow flowers in summer. Needs a sheltered, well-drained site in full sun to do well. The flower heads also dry well.

Note that woolly or grey foliage should never be immersed in water when conditioning, as it absorbs too much water and loses its grey appearance. It returns as the plant material dries out, but for immediate effect, only immerse the stem ends. Another note of caution - don't arrange grey or woolly stems arching downwards, or touching the rim of the container, as they may syphon water out of the container and ruin polished surfaces, etc.
