HEDERA SPECIES
Common Name: Ivy
Family: Araliaceae

Hedera or Ivy is one of the most useful plants for flower arrangers. It produces lovely trailing or climbing stems, and there are a vast number of species and cultivars available. It is usually very hardy and grows in shade as well as sun. Hedera canariensis is slightly less hardy than the other varieities. Varieties of Hedera helix are usually trailing or climbing plants with small leaves, although H. helix 'Erecta', 'Congesta' and 'Conglomerata' are shrubby plants with upright candelabra-like stems. Varieties of Hedera colchica and H. canariensis have larger leaves, useful to use singly in arrangements. The pictures below are of Hedera helix varieties which I have in my garden.
