FLORAL DESIGNS

DESIGN 99

This arrangement incorporates candles as part of the design. It is made in a glass dish with a wide rim, and uses floral foam for the mechanics. In the bottom of the dish, I have put some purple coloured shells, and on top of these, I have placed some purple velvet fabric to tone with the purple candles. This ensures that the plastic dish containing the floral foam will be hidden from view, and also forms some interesting textures. First, I have placed three glass cones into the floral foam, and inside these, I have used two different types of decorative chips, the coarser one at the bottom, and the finer one at the top. The candles were then pushed into the chips, which hold them in place. A detailed picture of these cones can be seen below. For the height, I have used Liatris, and other flowers used are purple Lissianthus (Eustoma), cerise pink Carnations, deep pink Gerberas, and lime green 'Kermit' Chrysanthemums. Foliage used is Arum italicum 'Marmoratum', Helleborus corsicus, Fatshedera lizei variegata, and Hedera helix. The flowers were from the florist, and all the foliage was from the garden.
