This is a design based on the use of spheres. I have used a grey metal square container, and wedged a piece of floral foam inside it, slightly higher than the rim of the container. I have added a collar of Bay leaves (Laurus nobilis) around the edge of the floral foam, then used various spheres to form the design. There are several metal spheres, and some glittery baubles, together with some green wicker spheres. At the front of the design, I have used a wet foam sphere, and covered this with closely bonded green Chrysanthemums. When making a sphere of flowers, it's important to make sure that the flower heads are resting on the foam, and that each flower head touches the one next to it, and the ones above and below it. There should be no foam showing. I have also made a couple of spheres using pinned-on foliage, one of Ivy, and one of Viburnum rhytidophyllum and Ivy. These are at the back of the design, and can't be seen in the picture. On the right of the design, I have made a moss sphere, using a dri-foam sphere, with Reindeer Moss (Cladonia rangifera) pinned on to it. More Reindeer Moss has been used to fill any gaps in the design between the spheres. |
