This is an Oriental-style arrangement, although not really Ikebana. I have used a wooden scrolled base, and a bonsai pot for the container. I have inserted a water tight container with floral foam into the pot, as it has drainage holes in the bottom. For the height, I have used black bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra). At the base of the arrangement, I have used Japanese Acer (Acer palmatum 'Senkaki'), to give an asymmetrical shape. I have also used some Ivy leaves just to help cover the mechanics. Finally, I have added some red Chrysanthemums. Just underneath the Acer, I have placed some black chopsticks on a chopstick holder, to give a bit of an Oriental atmosphere, although these are not very visible on the picture, being almost the same colour as the base! |
