The inspiration for this design was a hand-made cylindrical pottery container, in a pale turquoise colour. Because the container is very simple in design, it needed an equally simple arrangement, so I have used just a few types of plant material. For the height, I have used a stem of Corylus avellana "Contorta" (contorted Hazel), with two leaves of Yucca gloriosa. Two leaves of Galax, with a lovely bronze tinge to them, pick up the colour inside the stem of three green Cymbidium orchids. On the right are two stems of Equisetum hyemalis (Scouring Rush), which I have bent into triangles to give a change of form. All the plant materials have been arranged in water, without any floral foam, as the neck of the container is quite narrow. |
