DESIGN 8

These lovely sunflowers were the inspiration for this design, which has been made in a ceramic blue vase. I have used floral foam inside a plastic container which fits neatly into the neck of the vase. Foliage used is Cordyline to form the height, Aspidistra leaves rolled and stapled, and Hedera colchica 'Suphur Heart' at the front of the arrangement. There are also some recessed xFatshedera lizei leaves. Flowers used are Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus), small yellow double Chrysathemums with deep brown centres to echo the shape and colour of the Sunflowers, and tall blue spires of Aconitum. Some blue painted corkscrew hazel, Corylus avellana 'Contorta', have been added to give interest and echo the colour of the vase. The round yellow base repeats the round shape and colour of the Sunflowers. The flowers were from the florist, and all the foliage and the Corylus were from the garden.
