This design has been made in a brown glazed ceramic bowl, using floral foam for the mechanics. The floral foam sits in a plastic dish inside the bowl. I have used a piece of driftwood in the design, to give form and texture. I have also used three church candles of differing height as part of the design. I managed to buy these lovely cream roses, which had large flower heads, and the most delicious rose smell (very unusual for florist's roses). I couldn't find out the variety name, unfortunately. Because the roses had such large flowers, I decided that I wouldn't add any other flowers to the design, as they were strong enough in size and form to stand alone. For foliage, I have used Rhododendron, Bergenia, Mahonia bealii, and Phormium tenax purpureum. The roses and Rhododendron were from the florist, and the other foliages were from the garden. |
