This design was made in an unusual basket, which has some terracotta fish as decoration. I inserted a container with floral foam into the neck of the basket, to hold the flowers. I have used some lovely Kniphofias (Red Hot Pokers), and to the right of these is a group of green Heuchera cylindrica 'Greenfinch'. I have also used orange lilies and orange carnations, with peach Dendrobium orchids. Foliage used is Mahonia japonica, Hedera, Berberis thunbergii 'Purpurea', and some trimmed Fatsia japonica. For added interest, I've used some Corylus avellana 'Contorta' (contorted hazel) and used a piece of this to link a small placement of lilies, Heuchera cylindrica and Hedera foliage which has been placed at the base of the basket. I have used a round flat basket as a base, and this has been varnished to match the colour of the basket. The Kniphofia, Heuchera, Corylus and all the foliage was from the garden, the rest of the flowers were from the florist. |
