FLORAL DESIGNS

I love this blue glass vase. It only has a narrow neck, so I have used a small plastic saucer with floral foam, and fixed it to the neck with sticky floralfix. I love strong colour schemes, so I decided to go with blue and yellow. I have used blue painted Corylus avellana 'Contorta' to pick up the blue of the vase. The tall yellow flowers are Ligularia stenocephala 'The Rocket', and either side of these I have used two different varieties of Sarracenia (Pitcher Plants). These last a long time when cut, and if you want to dry them, they dry well if you fill them with cotton wool to keep the shape, and support the "lip" on both sides with more cotton wool, until they have dried. At the base of the arrangement are some yellow lilies, and the foliage I have used is Fatsia japonica variegata (on the left), Pelargonium 'Susie Q' (on the right), and some Hedera helix 'Buttercup' to fill in at the back. I have used a yellow base to pick up the colour of the lilies, with some blue glass round chips to pick up the colour and texture of the vase. The lilies were from the florist, everything else was from the garden.
