One of my flower arranging students gave me some small pieces of Philadelphus 'Beauclerk', (a beautiful Mock Orange, which smells divine and lasts for ages!) which I have not got in my garden. I just had to use them in an arrangement, so I sorted out this milk jug, which was just the right size! A saucer from the same tea set acts as a base, (a good tip is to add a little water to the saucer, as it adds extra humidity, which helps to make the flowers last longer). I went into the garden to find some suitable flowers to put with the Philadelphus, and which would complement the small pink flowers in the design on the jug. I chose pink Linaria 'Canon Went', white Tanacetum parthenium 'Plenum' (double flowered feverfew), pink Heuchera 'Strawberry Swirl', mauve Thymus variegata (variegated Thyme), and Lavandula stoechas 'Papillon' (French Lavender). The result is a charming small arrangement just made from cuttings from the garden, with no floral foam used, as all the flowers are arranged in water in the jug. |
