This design has been made in a glass vase, and has a green and white colour scheme. A square plastic container sits inside the rim of the vase and holds the floral foam. Inside the vase, I have put some limes, some of which have been cut in half to show the lovely texture and pattern of the inside (see detail, below). The vase has been placed onto a dark green square base, which echoes the squareness of the vase. On the base I have placed some glass cubes, which repeat the shape of the vase, and the material it is made from. The flowers used are white Carnations, white stocks (Matthiola incana), white Lissianthus, lime green Chrysanthemums, and Phlomis russelliana in bud. Foliage used is Cordyline australis for the height, with white variegated Hosta 'Patriot', dark green xFatshedera lizei, and white variegated Phalaris arundinacea 'Feesey', a lovely grass which is almost pure white, but with some narrow green striping down its length. This can be seen like white ribbons on the right of the arrangement. Some green dried Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa' (twisted Willow), and three green wicker balls have been added for interest and texture. All the foliage was from the garden, and all the flowers were from the florist, except the Phlomis russelliana, which was from the garden. |
The picture on the right shows a closeup of the limes inside the vase, and the glass cubes. |
