DESIGN 55

This design consists of three separate arrangements in three different sized wine glasses, linked by gold wired stems. Each arrangement consists of a small posy of flowers, which has been tied together, then wrapped around with Bergenia leaves to make a collar. Several layers of Bergenia leaves have been used, each layer being wrapped successively lower down the posy. Each posy consists of similar plant materials, in differing quantities depending on the size of the posy. The plant materials used are pale peach Roses and Carnations, deeper peach spray Carnations, Meconopsis cambrica seed pods (Welsh Poppy), Alchemilla mollis, Solidago (Golden Rod), and Asparagus officinalis. I have also used some Lychee fruits (Litchee chinensis) which have been skewered onto barbecue sticks, and these add a different texture and shape, as well as blending in with the general colour scheme.

At the base of the design, I have added two glass baubles, and some glass cubes, and these repeat the glass of the containers. This design would make a charming centrepiece for a dinner party as it is not too high, or you could use just one of the smallest glasses for each individual place setting.

This picture shows how the leaves are wrapped around the posy, and tiered, then folded down to make a different texture.
