This is a design consisting of three separate arrangements, all linked together with stems of red-sprayed Corylus avellana 'Contorta' (Contorted Hazel), which have been laid horizontally across all three containers, and pinned into position. The flowers and foliage have been inserted around and through this. I have chosen a lime-green, deep pink and red colour scheme. All three containers are identical in shape, size and colour, and each one contains floral foam for the mechanics. The flower and foliage content in all three containers is the same, but each individual arrangement is slightly different. For the height, I have used stems of culinary Asparagus, bought from the supermarket, as this has such a lovely strong form. Flowers used are red roses, red carnations, lime-green Chrysanthemums, and deep pink Gerberas. Foliage used is Hosta 'Golden Tiara', Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum', Alchemilla mollis, and Xerophyllum tenax (Bear Grass). The Bear Grass has been plaited, and looped to link each container with its neighbour. Three green wicker spheres have been added, one in each container, as a change of form and texture. Finally, a red base raised on four small feet has been used to unify the design. |
