For this design, I have used a low black ceramic dish. The mechanics are a small block of oasis, positioned towards the back of the container, which is kept in place by a large plastic foam pinholder ("frog"). For the height, I have used some Salix tortuosa (tortured Willow) stems which I have sprayed black, to match the container. The flowers used are red standard Carnations, red Chrysanthemums, bright pink spray Carnations, and red mini-Gerbera. Foliage used is Phormium tenax, Berberis thunbergia purpurea, Heuchera 'Pewter Veil' and Hedera 'Sulphur Heart'. All the flowers were from the florist, and all the foliage was from the garden. The design is made so that an expanse of water in the container is on show, and this adds another element to the design.
