DESIGN 37

This design is based on a Moribana style of Ikebana. I am no expert on Ikebana, although I appreciate the beauty and simplicity of it very much. That is why I describe this design as "Moribana-style". It uses a low, shallow pottery dish with feet, and a kenzan or pinholder has been used to hold the plant material. I have used three stems of Pussy-Willow, Salix sachalinensis 'Sekka', the Stag's Horn Willow, which grows with curious flattened stems. Three 'Stargazer' lilies have been used, and some stems of Pittosporum tobira variegata help to cover the kenzan, without adding bulk to the design. The flowers were from the Florist, and the Salix and Pittosporum were from the garden.
