Design 364

(Beginners Class, 3.11.09)

This contemporary design has been made in a green square plastic container, with floral foam for the mechanics. I began by adding a collar of pale green sisal around the edge of the foam, to help hide it and to add some texture. Some Ivy and Fatshedera leaves were arranged in groups on the edge of the design, then I added several Midelino sticks in various shades of pink, arranged in an upright position and randomly placed across the foam. Eight pink roses have been arranged at varying heights in between the Midelino sticks. I then arranged some pink spray Chrysanthemums in a group diagonally across the design and made some balls of sisal in various sizes, pinning them on in groups to add a change of form and texture. Finally, I gathered all the Midelino sticks together at the top, and bound them with pink bullion wire to form a caged effect, also adding a horizontal group of three looped Midelino sticks on the left of the design for added interest.
