(Beginners/Intermediate Class on 3.2.09)

This is an asymmetrical triangle design and has been made in a glass container, with floral foam for the mechanics. The floral foam is in a clear plastic dish which sits neatly inside the neck of the glass container. Inside the container, there is a layer of purple glass nuggets, then two sheets of Abaca, a natural fibre made from a particular species of Banana plant, Musa textilis. This can be easily cut to shape, folded, rolled, stapled or anything else you want to do with it! This makes an interesting effect inside the glass container, and can help link the colours of your flowers. I have also incorporated some of it in the design, and I have used it rolled into cone shapes, and also cut into ribbons which curl downwards. For height, I have used Phormium tenax Rainbow Maiden, with twigs of Cedrus atlantica to define the shape. Other foliage used is Hedera colchica, Fatsia japonica 'Aurea', conifer, and Eucalyptus. The focal flowers are Asiatic Lilies, and other flowers used are purple Lissianthus and purple Freesias, with lime green Skimmia confusa 'Kew Green' for colour contrast.
