Design 333

(Afternoon Beginner's Class, 21.10.08)

This arrangement has been made in a contemporary grouped style, and I've used a low square plastic container, with floral foam for the mechanics. For the height, I've used Phormium tenax variegata, with some twisted Corylus avellana 'Contorta' stems to add rhythm and interest. The grouped foliage used is Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart', Hedera helix, Pittosporum tobira, Fatshedera lizei and Prunus laurocerasus (Laurel). All the flowers used have been grouped to give more impact, and are silvery Eryngiums, pink roses, deep pink carnations, and pink Statice limonium (syn. Limonium sinuatum). For added interest I've also used some grouped green Hypericum berries, and a couple of loops of Xerophyllum tenax (Bear grass). For the focal area, I've made three small balls of lime green Sisal, which brighten the design and add texture.
