Design 332

(Morning Advanced Class, 21.10.08)

This design features the contemporary technique of "sheltering", or the "umbrella" effect. The design has been made in a tall galvanized container, with floral foam for the mechanics. The sheltered effect has been created with a single Monstera deliciosa leaf, which is arranged over the top of the design, like an umbrella. Other foliage used is Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart', Hedera colchica 'Gloire de Marengo', Pittosporum tobira variegata and Fatsia japonica 'Aurea', which has been trimmed to shape. The flowers have been grouped for effect, and are pink roses, deep pink Carnations, and pale green spray Chrysanthemums. Also used to add interest are groups of green Hypericum berries, and two loops of Xerophyllum tenax (Bear Grass).
