(Afternoon Beginner's Class, 7.10.08)
This is a basket arrangement made in a traditional style. The basket is lined inside with plastic to make it waterproof, and I've used floral foam for the mechanics. I have bound the handle with lime green paper ribbon, to add a bit of style and interest to it. The outline of the design has been defined with linear foliage, in this case, Lonicera nitida. Other foliage has been added to define the shape, this being Aucuba japonica and Hedera helix (Ivy). Next, I have added 6 pale yellow roses for the focal flowers. Then some white spray carnations have been added. Some lime-green spray Chrysanthemums have been used for recession, and to lift the design and bring out the colour of the handle. Finally, I've added some lovely green Hedera (Ivy) flowers to add interest and texture to the design.
Compare this design with four other traditional style basket arrangements - design136, design190, design222, and design269 made in the same basket.
