This contemporary table arrangement, designed to be viewed from above, has been made in a shallow rectangular basket, lined with tinfoil, with floral foam for the mechanics. I began by adding groups of foliage around the edge - Fatsia japonica aurea, Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart', and Prunus laurocerasus (Laurel). Two looped Aspidistra leaves were inserted in the centre of the design. Next I added five Sunflowers for focal interest. The cut-off stems of the Sunflowers were then added to give diagonal interest and a change of form. Groups of green spray Chrysanthemums were then added, and six wicker balls of varying sizes give added textural and colour interest. Finally, some pale green sisal was fashioned into spheres and pinned on to pick up the colour of the Chrysanthemums and to give extra textural interest.
