This is a waterfall or cascading design. It has been made in a tall glass and metal vase, with floral foam for the mechanics. The floral foam is several inches above the rim of the container to allow plant materials to be angled downwards to achieve the cascading effect. The foam has been wrapped around the base with Fatshedera lizei leaves to hide it through the glass. The vase has been filled with pink sisal for a decorative effect and to complement the pink colouring of the design. Three sides of the floral foam have been covered in layers of Fatshedera lizei to give a frilled effect. The fourth side is left open to accommodate the cascading plant materials. I began by adding various cascading and flowing foliages, including Xerophyllum tenax (bear grass), Typha angustifolia (reedmace/bulrush/cattail), Parthenocissus henryi (Virginia creeper), Jasminum (jasmine), Salix babylonica pekinensis 'Tortuosa' (twisted willow) and Muehlenbeckia axillaris. Then I added some Dendrobium orchids (Singapore orchids), then more foliage layered on top, then three pale pink Nerines, then some pink roses, and finally a light layer of foliage. I then added some green bullion wire over and round the design for a decorative effect. Finally, some stems from the Nerines and Orchids were cut and inserted into the floral foam at the back, angling upwards to look like stems from a bouquet.
