This all-foliage design has been made in a low round dish, with a plastic container inside and floral foam for the mechanics. When making all-foliage designs, it's important to use foliages with different forms, textures and colours, which will make an interesting overall impact. The foliages I've used are Phormium tenax purpurea (dark brown), Astelia nervosa (silver), Lonicera 'Lemon Beauty' (green/yellow variegated), Hedera helix 'Buttercup' (yellow), Acer palmatum purpureum (red), Hosta (green/yellow variegated), Ligustrum ovatum aureum (lime green), Aquilegia 'Woodside' (lime-green) Hedera helix 'Erecta' (green), Eleagnus pungens 'Maculata' (used singly, showing the silver undersides) and for the focal point Aeonium 'Swarzkopf' (deep maroon). To add interest to the design, I've rolled two of the Phormium tenax purpureum leaves at the top, and stuck on individual Eleagnus pungens 'Maculata' showing the silver undersides. I've also plaited two more Phormium leaves and used these looped diagonally in the design. Two of the Astelia leaves have also been looped to add interest. (See closeup pictures below for more detail.)
