This arrangement is a traditional vertical style. This is a very slender triangle, which is not more than two or three inches wider than the container. If this was to be made for a competition, then the arrangement should be no wider than the container. However, as this is just for the home, we don't need to worry too much about the width! I have used a tall neutral-coloured pottery container, with floral foam for the mechanics. I have established the height with some narrow leaves of Phormium tenax purpurea. Other stems of line material such as Lonicera nitida 'Lemon Beauty' form the outline of the design. The width has been established with Fatsia japonica 'Aurea' leaves, trimmed to size, and other foliage used is Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart', and Heuchera 'Stormy Seas' to tone with the Phormium leaves and to give a contrast of colour. Flowers used were five orange Roses for the focal area, five stems of orange spray Carnations, and a stem of green spray Chrysanthemums. |
