This is a small cascade or waterfall design, and I've made it in a wicker cone, using floral foam for the mechanics. It's made to look as though the flowers and foliage are cascading out of the cone, like a waterfall. I've used a collar of Fatsia japonica aurea leaves, and added cascading foliage of Jasminum nudiflorum, Nephrolepis exaltata and Asparagus officinalis. The flowers I've used are pink Zantedeschia (Calla Lily), pink standard Carnations, green 'Prado' Carnations, white Roses, and the cascading green feathery flowers of Aruncus dioica in bud (from the garden). I've also added a few shorter pieces of Asparagus officinalis and Hebe for extra textural interest. I've then used some lime green bullion wire to bind around the design, loosely at the top, then becoming tighter further down and quite tight towards the end, so that it forms a thin pointed end which I've then curled round. |
