Design 251

This is a petite design, which means that for competition purposes (under NAFAS rules) it should not exceed 25 cms (9.8 inches) in width, depth and height. (This measurement does not apply to the diagonal dimensions.) Scale is particularly important in this type of design, and it should appear as though it was a large arrangement in miniature. This is quite difficult to achieve, and small flowers and foliage must be used. For my design, I've used a glass candle cup for the container, with floral foam for the mechanics. For the height, I've used Tellima grandiflora, with some small Hellebore flowers for the focal flowers. Filler flowers are Lily of the Valley, and Diosma 'Pink Fountain'. Foliage is small Hedera leaves, Senecio 'Sunshine' and conifer. Some bear grass has been looped on the left hand side, and small pieces of Corylus avellana 'Contorta' add interest.
