This is a really simple but effective design using a glass globe. In the centre of the globe, I've used three small blue glass containers, stacked up on top of each other. The bottom two contain blue sisal which has been shaped into a sphere and wired with lime green bullion wire. The top one contains the same, plus a small plastic orchid tube filled with water. Into this I've inserted one Cymbidium orchid. Around the base of the globe, I've used three more plastic orchid tubes which have been covered with blue sisal and bound with lime green bullion wire (see closeup picture, below) leaving a little tassel of sisal on the end for decoration. These have also been filled with water, and contain one Cymbidium orchid. Finally, just three pieces of Bear Grass (Xerophyllum tenax) have been wound around inside the globe, for a change of form and colour. The result is a contemporary design which looks good but is quick to make and doesn't cost the earth!! |
