This is a European construction design. I have used a low brown ceramic dish, with floral foam for the mechanics. The foam has been covered with lime green sisal, to hide the mechanics and give colour and texture. I have made the construction from short pieces of willow, which have been tied to each other with green raffia. When using raffia, it's best to soak it in warm water for a few minutes first, as this makes it much more pliable and easier to tie. The construction is tied to several upright pieces of willow, which have been inserted into the foam for stability. I've used five orange Gerbera, which have been threaded through the construction, and sit at different heights. Underneath the construction, I've used six short pale green "Prado" Carnations, which sit on the sisal. I've also made several small rings of orange sisal, which bring through the colour of the Gerberas. Finally, I've used three pods of Asclepias physocarpa on the construction itself, for interest and a change of form and texture. | |
