This arrangement is a horizontal design, which would be suitable for a table centre, or wedding top table design, or a window ledge, or a funeral tribute (known in the floristry trade as a double-ended funeral spray). It is made using a plastic rectangular container, with floral foam for the mechanics. The design should be no more than 9" tall at its highest point. I have defined the shape using bold foliage of Aspidistra, pink-tinged Cordyline, Phormium tenax and variegated Fatsia japonica. The ends of the Phormium have been curled and stapled to give interest. Some of the Aspidistra leaves have also been folded for a change of form. The foliage is strong enough visually to form part of the design, not just as a filler. In the centre I have used three ornamental variegated Kale. The other flowers used are six pale pink Anthuriums, six green Chrysanthemums and five pink Gerbera. A bow of lime-green organza ribbon has been added as a finishing touch. | |
