DESIGN 21

This arrangement has been made using dried and artificial materials. I have used a square terracotta planter as a container, and dryfoam for the mechanics. There are two square candles in the centre of the arrangement, to echo the shape of the container, and these are cream and brown, to match the colours used in the arrangement. I have wrapped the candles with black dyed and glycerined Laurel leaves, and tied them with raffia. To give some height and interest, and to echo the black colouring of the leaves, I have used some black sprayed contorted Hazel (Corylus avellana 'Contorta'). There are some artificial stems of Snake Grass, (Equisetum hyemalis) to the right of the candles, and next to these, one stem of terracotta coloured Amaryllis. Other materials used are three cane balls, to give a change of form and texture, some dried bracket fungi, some paper roses, a head of artificial terracotta coloured Hydrangea, a small group of dyed wheat, and some green dyed and glycerined Reindeer Moss (Cladonia rangifera). At the front of the arrangement, resting on top of the bracket fungi, is a grouping of polished pebbles in black and beige, and some snail shells, to pick up the colours used in the arrangement. Another grouping of pebbles and snail shells has been placed at the base of the arrangement.
