This design has been made using a silver candlestick. I've used floral foam for the mechanics, and this is taped into a plastic candle cup which fits into the top of the candlestick. Firstly, I added a silver candle in the centre of the design, to tone with the silver of the candlestick. The design is an all-round posy, which can be viewed from all sides. I started off by defining the shape with some Eucalyptus foliage, then added some Hebe "Silver Dollar", which is a grey-green colour with white edges, and a lovely pink tinge to the tips. A few small Hedera (Ivy) leaves give depth and help to cover the foam. I also used some variegated Liriope (China Grass) which gives a nice effect, and I've looped some of this to add interest. I've used six white Roses for the focal flowers, with a few pink spray carnations for secondary flowers. Pink Chamelaucium uncinatum (Waxflower) has been used for transitional or filler flowers, and some of the foliage of this plant has also been used to give a change of form and texture. |
