For this design, I have used a copper kettle. I have used a plastic container which fits into the top of the kettle, with floral foam for the mechanics. The design is made to be viewed all round. The foliage used is trails of variegated Hedera helix (Ivy), some larger green Hedera helix leaves, and Magnolia grandiflora leaves, which I've used with the underside uppermost, as they are a beautiful coppery colour which tones well with the kettle. The flowers used are spires of purple-leaved Bugle, Ajuga reptens purpurea, which is a pretty garden plant with small blue flowers, peach spray Carnations, some orange Roses for the focal flowers, and a few lovely bronze double spray Chrysanthemums. The colours were chosen to tone with the copper of the kettle. Finally the lid was added at the base of the kettle, to give interest to the design. |
