For this design I have used a glass bowl. In the bottom of the bowl I've put a piece of floral foam around 3" high, and this is held in position with a plastic "frog" or pinholder. Some lime green sisal covers the foam. I've added a few red glass nuggets to the sisal, to pick out the colour of the flowers used. I started by adding three lovely pink Cymbidium Orchids, which were inserted into short plastic orchid tubes. The tubes are hidden by the sisal, and the flowers nestle on top of the sisal. Then, I added four green "Prado" Carnations, cut short, and five red mini Gerbera which start short and get longer as they appear from within the bowl. Finally, I've used three beautiful tall red Amaryllis (syn. Hippeastrum) which are placed in the centre of the design. A closeup view of the inside of the bowl is below. |
