The brief for this design was "an arrangement in an unusual container". Well - I guess a shoe is an unusual container! The same shoe and similar flowers have been used in both designs, although the style of each is different. The mechanics used in both cases is a small piece of floral foam wrapped in a double layer of tinfoil so that the water does not damage the shoe. On the left, the foliage I have used is Hedera colchica variegata, with a few Hedera helix leaves to cover the mechanics. I've also used some linear leaves of Grevillea, which have been commercially dyed. The flowers used are 3 pink roses, 3 pink Gerberas, 2 stems of lilac Freesias, and a few stems of purple Statice limonium to pick up the colour of the shoe. A few Ivy berries add a change of form and texture. The stems of the Gerberas have been wound with gold bullion wire, and more of this has been added looped around the design. The right hand design is a much lower, more grouped style, and here I've used small Hedera helix leaves grouped in 3's, with Ivy berries, 5 pink roses and some stems of purple Statice limonium. Three Grevillea leaves have been looped through the design. | |
