DESIGN 193

This design is a traditional symmetrical triangle. I have used a neutral-coloured vase with three feet, and floral foam for the mechanics. When using any container with three feet, or three legs, it's important to make sure that one of the legs is facing to the front, with the other two behind. This will make sure that you have good balance, as a front-facing design can sometimes be heavier at the front, and can topple forward if the container is not well balanced. I have established the outline with Cotoneaster franchetii, which has green leaves which have grey undersides. I have used the leaves so that the grey side is visible, as this adds more variety of colour to the design. Secondary foliage of Buxus sempervirens and Hebe are added to strengthen the outline. Nine white roses form the focal flowers, with five stems of white spray carnations added. Some pale pink Waxflower (Chamelaucium uncinatum) has been used for transitional or filler flowers. Finally, a few green "Yoko Ono" spray Chrysanthemums have been recessed to add depth and help cover the mechanics.
