DESIGN 183

This is a small arrangement, made in a woven box with a lid attached. I have lined the box with tin foil to make it waterproof, and used floral foam for the mechanics. The lid has been propped open at an angle, using a short barbecue stick which is inserted into the top of the foam. As this is a small design, the flowers and foliage chosen are also small. I have used Eucalyptus foliage to define the outline of the design, with some larger leaves of Rubus tricolor, and in the centre, two dark leaves of Heuchera "Chocolate Ruffles". For the focal flowers, I have used three orange Roses. Other flowers used are three stems of orange spray Carnations, one stem of orange Anigozanthos (Kangaroo Paw), cut into smaller units, and for recession and colour-accent, one stem of lime-green "Yoko Ono" spray Chrysanthemums. Finally, for added interest I have used several groups of green seed heads of Anemone japonica (Japanese Anemone), which have an interesting shape and texture.
