FLORAL DESIGNS

For this design, I have chosen a plain black vase, and I have used a black plastic flowerpot which sits snugly into the neck of the vase, to hold the floral foam. The flower pot has had the drainage holes blocked with hot melt glue, to make it water tight. For the height I have used some dried Strelitzia regina (Bird of Paradise) leaves, which have been sprayed gold, and some black painted Corylus avellana 'Contorta' stems, which have also been used lower down in the arrangement. The only flowers used are some yellow 'Connecticut King' Lilies. The foliage used is variegated green and yellow Fatsia japonica. A fan of pleated gold tissue paper adds interest, and this has also been rolled to form a gold rope which winds through the arrangement and down to the black wooden octagonal base. Three gold cane balls complete the arrangement. The Lilies were from the florist, all the other plant materials were from the garden.
