This design has been made in a dark coloured square bamboo basket. The basket is quite deep, so I have half-filled it with scrunched-up newspaper, then added a plastic dish with floral foam for the mechanics. To establish the height, I have used a stem of Corylus avellana 'Contorta' (Contorted Hazel). At the base, I have used some bold foliage of Fatsia japonica variegata, and Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart'. There are also a couple of trailing stems of Hedera helix. I have added a paper bow of lime-green, as an accent in the design. The flowers used are 3 Helianthus annuus (Sunflower), with a group of 2 stems of yellow Lilies, and a group of three stems of purple Lissianthus (syn. Eustoma). To pick out the colour and texture of the basket, I have added three dark wicker balls at the front of the design. |
