DESIGN 148

For this design, I have used a blue frosted glass conical container which sits in a chrome and brass three-legged stand, with floral foam for the mechanics. The design is a bit "off the wall", and was intended to be something a bit different. Few flowers were used, just three blue Hyacinths and three stems of green Chrysanthemums. I have cut off the heads of the Chrysanthemums, and arranged these in a close collar around the base of the floral foam. A group of "Flexi-Grass" gives height to the design, and the Hyacinths are arranged around this. Several stems of Equisetum hyemalis (Snake Grass) were bent into triangles to repeat the shape of the container, and these were arranged around the design, in two's. Three groups of Bear Grass (Xerophyllum tenax) were wired with gold bullion wire, and bent into crescent shapes. A single Chrysanthemum was wired onto the end of each group, and these were arranged cascading downwards. A small amount of blue Sisal was arranged in the centre of the design, to cover the floral foam. Finally, some aluminium wire was arranged throughout the design, finishing with a piece which curls around the flexi grass.
