This arrangement is in the european pavé style. The picture shows the design viewed from above. In this style, the flowers are all cut very short, and arranged in close formation, like a carpet or tapestry. I have used a shallow brown ceramic dish, with floral foam for the mechanics. I first made a collar of lime-green sisal, to cover the edge of the floral foam, and this was pinned into position. Then I arranged various materials, making sure to use materials with contrasting colour, form and texture, so that the patterns show up well. The materials used were deep pink Roses, red Carnations, red Gerbera, green "Kermit" Chrysanthemums, green Cymbidium Orchids, and Silver Brunia. Finally, I added a few strands of the green sisal across the design, for extra texture. No foliage was used in the design. |
