This is a simple, but effective, design, which uses just twigs and roses. I have used a square recycled glass vase. I have arranged a selection of different coloured twigs first, and these include Cornus alba (dark red), Cornus kesselringii (black), Cornus stolonifera flaviramea (yellow-green), Acer pamatum "Senkaki" (bright red), Alnus glutinosa (brown) Salix fargesii (black with red buds), and Salix babylonica (yellow). Then I have arranged 12 yellow roses with orange edges at various heights all round the design. The foliage has been removed from the roses, to reveal the bright green stems, which add another colour to the design. Finally I have wound some Salix babylonica (Weeping Willow) stems around the design, and bound them into position using gold bullion wire. |
