This is an unusual design which uses Oasis® Rainbow Foam, which forms a large part of the design. I have used a rectangular glass vase, and one block of lime-green foam. I have cut the foam into two pieces - a large piece and a smaller piece, and whilst it is dry, I have shaped it by using a knife to get the basic shape, then using a scouring pad to smooth the edges and define the shape more. The larger piece of foam is placed upright on the left side of the vase, and is around 2" taller than the vase. The pieces which I cut out of the foam to shape it have been cut into small pieces and used in the design to add texture. These are placed on the right of the design, in the base of the vase. The smaller piece of foam is then placed upright on this layer, towards the back of the vase, and comes level with the top of the vase. I have used one stem of Corylus avellana 'Contorta' (Contorted Hazel) for movement throughout the design, and this was placed first and pinned into position on top of the foam. Very few flowers are used in the design - just two tall lime-green Molucella laevis (Bells of Ireland), six red roses, and two red gerberas. Three of the roses have been used inside the vase, to add interest to the design. No foliage has been used at all. |
