This arrangement has been made in a pale coloured wicker basket with a high handle, using floral foam for the mechanics. Although the basket has a plastic lining, I have re-lined it again using a double sheet of tinfoil, as such baskets are notorious for suddenly developing leaks, especially when the weight of wet floral foam and flowers pushes the plastic down onto sharp pieces of wicker in the base of the basket. The design is made to be viewed all round, and is therefore similar on both sides. To define the shape, I have used some beautiful orange dyed Grevillea foliage, which complements the colour of the flowers used. Other foliage used is Lonicera pileata, Viburnum davidii, and Fatsia japonica variegata. Flowers used are ten terracotta roses (variety unknown), six green-tinged standard carnations, and one stem of terracotta spray Chrysanthemums. To add a bit of interest, I have also used some twisted stems of Corylus avellana 'Contorta' (contorted Hazel). |
