This design incorporates fruit as well as flowers. I have chosen a plain gold container, which has a plastic saucer with floral foam placed inside for the mechanics. For the height, I have used Phormium tenax purpurea, and other foliage used is some lovely autumn coloured leaves of Vitis coignetiae, Fatsia japonica variegata, and Hedera colchica "Sulphur Heart". For the focal point, I have used three small apples, which have been fixed onto place using wooden skewers, and other flowers used are 5 peach standard Carnations, 7 peach roses, 1 stem of pale orange spray Chrysanthemums, 1 stem of lime-green "Kermit" Chrysanthemums, and 3 lime-green Molucella laevis (Bells of Ireland). I have also used some Hedera helix seedheads to add interest. Finally, I have added some orange Kumquat fruits (Fortunella japonica) which have been threaded onto long wooden skewers, and give a different form and texture to the design (see closeup picture below). |
