This design is made in a square shallow basket, made of seagrass. It is lined with plastic to make it waterproof, and floral foam has been used for the mechanics. The floral foam is around ½" higher than the rim of the basket. I have pinned some stems of Equisetum hyemalis (Snake Grass) around the edge of the floral foam, as a design feature, and to hide the foam. I have arranged the flowers and foliage in blocks of colour, each type being arranged close together, with no floral foam showing. This creates a tapestry-like design, which is very effective when viewed from above, such as on a coffee table. The flowers used were orange Roses, red Tulips, red standard Carnations, deep red standard Carnations, and these were interspersed with blocks of Buxus sempervirens (Box).
