Flower arrangers are always on the lookout for something different to use as a container! Here, I have used an old terracotta drainpipe which I found at the back of the shed. I have used a square plastic flowerpot in the top, which has had the drainage holes sealed with hot-melt glue, and floral foam for the mechanics. I have used a small round plastic container with floral foam for the smaller arrangement coming out of the pipe at the side. For the base, I have used an upturned terracotta plant saucer. I have used Phormium tenax purpureum for the height, and Leucadendron 'Safari Sunset' in front of that. Other foliage used is Buxus sempervirens, Hedera colchica 'Sulphur Heart', Aspidistra elatior (curled on the ends) and Xerophyllum tenax (Bear Grass). I have used yellow Lilies for the focal point, with red Roses, red standard Carnations and orange spray Carnations. For extra interest and texture, I have added some red Hypericum berries. Similar flowers have been used for the smaller arrangement. Finally, I have added some small terracotta balls at the base of the design, to give extra form and texture.
